Amazing Glaze
One of our favourite recipe bloggers, Adrianna Adarme
of A Cozy Kitchen, bakes us a beauty batch of
Pure Color Envy Paint-On Liquid LipColor doughnuts.
You might remember Adrianna Adarme from the creative cocktails she mixed for us, inspired by Modern Muse. We had so much fun making them, we asked her to take her imaginative recipes a step further in honor of our latest liquid lip launch.
Doughnuts are always a crowd-pleaser, of course, but they’re also the perfect canvas for colour. Adarme started with her go-to baked doughnut recipe, then created three different glazes, one for each finish of Pure Color Envy Paint-On Liquid LipColor—matte, metallic and vinyl. They say you are what you eat; we say, why not wear it? Get the recipes for her doughnuts and each shade-matched glaze below.
Baked Vanilla Doughnuts
Makes 10
Dry:
- 1 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup white granulated sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet:
- 1/2 cup shaken buttermilk
- 1 vanilla bean, scraped
- 1 large egg
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
Step 1
To make the doughnuts: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a doughnut pan with cooking spray.
Step 2
In a medium bowl, whisk dry ingredients together. In a separate bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and stir until combined. Transfer the batter to a large ziplock bag. Snip off the end and pipe the doughnut pan cavities until they’re about 3/4 of the way full. Transfer to the oven to bake for 12 minutes. Allow to cool for 5 minutes in the pan and then invert the doughnuts onto a rack.
Vinyl Glaze (inspired by Envy Paint-On in Lava Flow)
- 4 ounces white chocolate chips
- ¼ cup cold water
- 2 ½ teaspoons powdered gelatin
- 2 tablespoons water
- ¼ cup light corn syrup
- ½ cup white granulated sugar
- ¼ cup sweetened condensed milk
- 7 drops of soft gel paste food coloring in red
- 1 drop of soft gel paste food coloring in brown
Step 1
Place white chocolate chips in a medium bowl and set aside.
Step 2
Combine cold water and gelatin mix in a small blow. Set aside and allow gelatin to bloom, about 3 minutes.
Step 3
Add 2 tablespoons water, corn syrup and sugar to a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook until sugar has dissolved, about 2 minutes. Turn off the heat and add in sweetened condensed milk and stir.
Step 4
Pour the sugar mixture over the white chocolate chips and allow to sit for 2 minutes. Using an immersion blender, blend the mixture until smooth. Pour through a sieve into a separate bowl. Add the food coloring and allow to sit until temperature reads 90°. Spoon the glaze over the doughnuts and let stand 5 minutes until set.

Step 2
Add food coloring and mix again.
Step 3
Dip the doughnuts into the glaze and transfer to refrigerator to chill until set, about 5 minutes.
