Beauty: having a moment

Monochromatic Makeup

This new makeup trend is about to make your life
significantly easier. All you need is a favorite color.

Part of the joy in playing with makeup is all of the options it affords us. Eyes, cheeks and lips can flash a veritable rainbow of shades (with brows getting in on the action lately too). But every so often a trend comes along where beauty lies in restraint: A classic red lip. No-makeup makeup. A crisp cat eye. The latest addition to this list? Monochromatic makeup.

Put away your multicolored palette and focus on your favorite shade family—then apply it all over. You can go monochrome in nudes, browns, pinks or peaches. Here, we colored outside the lines with summery shades of pink-tinged lavender. Start with a wash of Pure Color Envy Defining EyeShadow in Fearless Petal and Infamous Orchid, blending the two shades together from lashline to browbone, and adding a little extra beneath the lower waterline. Dust EyeShadow in Steely Lilac on the inner corners. Then swirl Pure Color Envy Sculpting Blush in Electric Pink on the apples of your cheeks, sweeping the color up toward your temples for a more intense flush. (If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, you can have your blush meet your eyeshadow at the outer edge of your brow.)

Complete the look with lollipop-stained lips: Use your fingertip to apply Genuine Glow Blushing Creme For Lips and Cheeks in Peachy Keen all over your lips, then apply Pure Color Envy Matte Lipstick in Neon Azalea just at the center, using your fingertip to push the color in.

The end result is a pretty-in-pink look that’s anything but plain.
